What’s Next?

“The Great Pause” is slowly coming to an end. State leaders are beginning to receive a lot of pressure from communities to reopen so we can go back to work. Whether you feel this is a good thing or not, our neighbors are feeling the effects of “The Great Test” we have been living in since the middle of March. Now is an opportunity for us to show how great we are as business professionals.

I enjoy hearing great stories of how business owners are supporting their employees during this time. The latest story shared with me is the one about Swig and Swine supporting the 100 employees they fired in March. The support comes by the managers & owners providing a hot meal and grocery gift cards to their team members. As of April 18th, the restaurant and Kingsford charcoal has given $15,000 to the team because they are not able to work at this time. I’m betting when we move into the “The Great Rush” of putting the economy back together Swig and Swine will not struggle with pulling their team members back to work.

I hear vacation rentals are going to be available next week and Charleston is going to begin seeing more people in the streets and on the beach again. Is your business poised to begin the hiring process? Have you completed your marketing strategy and designed a game plan for the next phase? We need to be smart about reopening our economy and those of us who are positive and accept these opportunities will rise to the top. Gather your referral partners, tribe, roundtable, or [insert name] your support team and create a buzz around your business. Remember to support local and shop in your community to grow through this next phase.
